Wednesday 8 August 2018: Haverfordwest Castle and Museum visit

Details: Simon Hancock, the castle and museum curator will give us an introduction to the castle, from its construction in the time of Edward Longshanks to its ravaging in the 1648 and touch on such famous visitors as King Richard II and Oliver Cromwell, during our tour of the grounds.

This will be followed by a tour of the museum and its exhibits, including copies of Oliver Cromwell’s letters ordering the destruction of the castle. There is also a fine model of the castle, as it would have looked in 1394. Thereafter, you will be free to browse the museum at your leisure.

Timings and Meeting Point: Meet at the Castle Museum car park at 19:00. The event will finish about 20:30.

Lead Organiser: Ian Pattinson (01239 821631).
