Thursday 8th March 2018: Preseli Ridge Line Linear Walk

Details: A 7.5-mile linear walk along the Preseli Ridge, via Foel Drygarn, Carn Menyn, and the peak of Foel Cwmcerwyn, affording, weather permitting, panoramic views to all points of the compass. This walk may also take in the sites of two aircraft crashes in the area, which would extend the walk to approx. 8.5 miles. Sorry – no dogs.
This walk has been assessed as Moderate.

Timings & Meeting Point:  Meet 10:30 in public car park at Rosebush. Grid Ref. SN 075 296  (turn left at the Old Post Office/Phone Box, NB. NOT the Tafarn Sinc carpark).  As it is a linear walk, there will be car sharing to the start, so please make sure you have spare seats in your car.  The walk should finish before 16:00 and Tafarn Sinc will be open for refreshments. Bring adequate gear, boots, water and lunch. No need to book, but phone Chris (or Ian Pattinson) with any queries.

NOTE: If the weather turns for the worse, we might cancel this walk – if so, an email will be sent out on Wednesday early evening and this webpage will be updated. If you are in doubt, or cannot easily see email, call Ian anytime up to 09:45 on the day.

Wednesday 7 February 2018: A Presentation on Marine Energy Wales Projects

Details:  An evening presentation from the Marine Energy Wales team, which runs a number of projects across the coast of Pembrokeshire, working closely with PCNPA. Marine Energy Wales’ aim is to make Wales the leader in sustainable marine energy generation and this presentation will aim to inform us what that means and how they hope to achieve it.  More information is available through this link. www.pembrokeshirecoastalforum.org.uk. Timings and Meeting Point:  The presentation will start at 19:00 and last for approximately one hour, including questions. Venue is the first floor Conference Room, The Mariners Hotel, Haverfordwest (SA61 2DU).  Self-funded tea and coffee, or stronger, will be available from the bar on the ground floor. For those who wish to eat at the Mariners on completion, food is served until 21.30 but we have been advised that it might be wise to pre-order at the bar before the presentation.

26 January 2018: Angle Bay Walk

Details:  A 4.5 mile walk, on quiet roads and coast path tracks, around the northern Angle Peninsula, taking in views of our marvellous harbour, covering history and the latest modern developments. For those inclined, afterwards possibly visiting a local hostelry for food and refreshment.
Wear good walking boots, adequate clothing and wet weather gear.  Bring packed lunch and drink.  Phone Chris for any further details, or in the event of a poor weather forecast. Sorry – no dogs. 

This walk has been assessed as ‘Easy’.

18 January 2018: Visit to Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre – Sunderland Flying Boat

Details: After a short introduction by Stuart Berry, the Heritage Centre Manager, we will receive a guided tour of the Heritage Centre, by one of the volunteers, to see this iconic WWII flying boat which provided such sterling service in the struggle to protect our coast and convoys. There will be a £3 charge to cover the presentation.

There is plenty of parking immediately outside of the Heritage Centre.

The introduction will commence at 13:30 and the tour will last about 40 minutes depending upon questions. Thereafter, Friends will be free to walk around the Heritage Centre for as long as they wish. There are no other parties visiting the Heritage Centre that day and so Volunteers will be available to answer any questions throughout the entirety of our visit.

The cafeteria will be open before and during the visit for self-funding coffee and light refreshments for those who want it. Meals will not be available on the day of the visit.
