Saturday, 8 April 2017 – Oriel Y Parc – AGM
The 26th AGM will be held on Saturday, 8th April 2017 at Oriel y Parc, St Davids, from 10.15am.
After a buffet lunch, there will be a choice of activities:
- A walk with Ian Pattinson (about 3 miles, boots & waterproofs needed)
- A guided tour of St Davids Cathedral
- An illustrated talk about the National Park by Steve Drinkwater

Sunday, 11 December – Annual Christmas Tea Party & Carol Service – St Bride’s Castle and Church – also Swim at 2.00 pm.
Come and enjoy this unique opportunity of a swim in the beautiful, large, indoor, heated swimming pool in the castle. This is the first time that such a treat has been offered to the Friends. Just bring a towel and your bathers and take the plunge!3pm – 4.30pm: the Holiday Property Bond has once again invited the Friends to hold their Annual Tea Party in the superb surroundings of the castle library, with its spectacular views across St Bride’s bay.
Tea, coffee, savouries and cakes will be served from 3.15-4.15pm.
(Contributions of a plate of food, brought to the library on the day, from 2pm on, would be welcome, but not compulsory!)
5pm: Candlelit Carol Service at St. Bridget’s Church, St Brides.
A short service of favourite Readings and Carols in the beautifully decorated church, with Fr. Andrew Johnson, Rector of St. Bridget’s. A wonderful way to start Christmas!

Saturday, 5th November – The Preseli Challenge – Led by Ian Pattinson.
To mark bonfire night and the start of our winter hibernation through to Spring 2017, all Friends are cordially invited to don their walking boots and warm kit for one final time this year and face their very own ‘Preseli- beast Challenge!’ – The detailed planning is underway as N&V goes to press but in outline we are looking at a morning and afternoon walk, punctuated by lunch in Newport and bagging Carningli (from Bedd Morris – plenty of free parking) in the morning and Cwmcerwyn (from Bwlch Gwynt) in the afternoon, probably ending up at the Tafarn Zinc in Rosebush before sunset. We will arrange for lifts for drivers to get back to their cars as the afternoon walk is linear. The morning walk will be relatively sedate and the afternoon walk will be a little longer and involve a short climb. We will also work out a bad weather option should the peak be too obscured or windy! Exact meeting point and lunchtime arrangements (menu choices etc) to follow. No limit on numbers as we will have backmarkers, but you will need to book your place with Ian Pattinson (01239 821631 or info@discoverwalkingpembrokeshire.co.uk) in due course, so he knows to send you a map with the meeting point. Option is to join us for lunch only if you wish and in the event of storms and tempest, we will still meet for lunch even if we cancel the walking (we can watch Wales v Australia rugby)! No dogs. Tuesday, 18 October, 7.15 – 8.45 p.m. – Cheese & Wine networking Event – Pembroke Town Hall
Cheese and Wine Evening – Pembroke Town Hall – Main Street, SA71 4JS
As part of our ongoing drive to get to know our members better and what they wish to see from the Friends, we will be holding the last of three Cheese and Wine evenings in the South of the County. The meeting, held in the centre of the County in Haverfordwest was deemed (by those attending) to be a great success.
These evenings are intended for members to attend whether for the entire event or on a drop in and drop out basis.
