Wednesday, 16th September at Uzmaston Village Hall – 7.30 p.m
The illustrated talk by Alan Mason will begin at 7.30pm, followed by coffee and biscuits.
Alan Mason, the Friends work party Co-ordinator, will show us the varied and interesting work being undertaken by the work party around the National Park with some beautiful photographs of the work and the locations, provided by himself, Andrew Weaver and other Friends. This will be followed by a short video of the interesting visit in 2014 to a variety of archaeology sites in North Pembrokeshire, video made by our Member Tim Sims-Williams.
The Friends has organised a special boat trip for Members around Ramsey Island and a talk about tidal energy in Ramsey Sound; so on the water and talking about the water!
1000 Islands tours have offered us a special price of £16 per head for a one and a half hour round the Island trip in the morning, with a guide and boat skipper. The trip will be on two small rib boats driving at cruising speed, these have been currently reserved for us. Maximum numbers 24, so first come, first served.
This is followed by lunch and a short talk and question time with Tidal Energy Ltd, who are now installing the new generator in Ramsey Sound. The lunch and talk will take place whatever the weather, so if the boat trip is cancelled the lunch and talk will still go ahead.
Timing as follows:
10.00am Park in car park (£3 per day) just before St Justinians and walk down to the boat departure point at St Justinians to meet at 10.15am. Bring cash for trip and wear several layers of clothing and suitable footwear.
There are about fifty steps down to the boat, but these are wide and easily negotiable.
Departure 10.30am and return midday.
Collect cars and drive to Oriel y Parc
12.30 “Discovery Room” for private lunch Soup of the Day (vegetarian, gluten and allergen free), served with Caerfi Organic Caerffili cheese, a half baguette with welsh butter and chips. £6.50 per person. Please bring cash. Coffee and Tea Extra. Water supplied. Please notify us of any specific allergies.
Followed by 30 minute talk and then questions by Tidal Energy Ltd.
Reserve your place for the event by Thursday June 18th with Jane Mason by email email@example.com or on 07796 331743
The boat company will call Jane the night before if a storm will halt the trip and she will call everyone. Otherwise assume we all meet at St Justinians, although the trip could still be cancelled. But there is then the opportunity to spend the morning in St David’s before lunch.
