Thursday, 16 February – walk with Hook History Society – 10.00am.

A walk led by Haydn Garlick – PCNPA Warden – (South Pembrokeshire) in the Hook area going down to the estuary and past the restoration work of the Lime Kilns carried out by The Friends.

Meet at 10am in the car park of Hook sports/cricket club ground (GR SM 978 114 ), Newton Road,SA62 4NB. The walk will be approximately 3 ½ – 4 miles, there may be quite wet conditions underfoot especially along the foreshore, so wellies might be a good option.

Hook History Society will be in attendance and the event will be followed by lunch at the Cottage Inn Llangwm – the menu will be emailed to Friends a couple of weeks before the walk, also available on the day, and orders will be taken when we meet at the car park – if you want to stay for lunch. Please do not phone orders through to event organiser Jane Mason beforehand, and no need to book your place.

Tuesday, 17 January 2017 – Talk on Garden Birds by Pembrokeshire Bird Club – Haverfordwest Leisure Centre

Starts at 19.15 hrs for coffee on arrival with the talk commencing at 19.30 hrs. Possibly an early evening meal beforehand for those that would like. Saturday, 8 April 2017 – Oriel Y Parc – AGM

The 26th AGM will be held on Saturday, 8th April 2017 at Oriel y Parc, St Davids, from 10.15am.

After a buffet lunch, there will be a choice of activities:

  • A walk with Ian Pattinson (about 3 miles, boots & waterproofs needed)
  • A guided tour of St Davids Cathedral
  • An illustrated talk about the National Park by Steve Drinkwater

Sunday, 11 December – Annual Christmas Tea Party & Carol Service – St Bride’s Castle and Church – also Swim at 2.00 pm.

Parking (including disabled) will be available outside the castle entrance hall, or beside the tennis courts.Programme: 2pm – 3pm. St Bride’s Castle Swimming Pool, open to members of the Friends.
Come and enjoy this unique opportunity of a swim in the beautiful, large, indoor, heated swimming pool in the castle. This is the first time that such a treat has been offered to the Friends. Just bring a towel and your bathers and take the plunge!3pm – 4.30pm: the Holiday Property Bond has once again invited the Friends to hold their Annual Tea Party in the superb surroundings of the castle library, with its spectacular views across St Bride’s bay.
Tea, coffee, savouries and cakes will be served from 3.15-4.15pm.
(Contributions of a plate of food, brought to the library on the day, from 2pm on, would be welcome, but not compulsory!)

5pm: Candlelit Carol Service at St. Bridget’s Church, St Brides.
A short service of favourite Readings and Carols in the beautifully decorated church, with Fr. Andrew Johnson, Rector of St. Bridget’s. A wonderful way to start Christmas!
(Walk from the castle, or plenty of parking outside the church).
