Wednesday 28th September 2016 7:15 – 8:45pm – Cheese and Wine Evening – Ocean Lab, Fishguard Harbour, Goodwick, SA64 0DE

As part of our ongoing drive to get to know our members better and what they wish to see from the Friends, we will be holding the second of three Cheese and Wine evenings in the North of the County. The last such meeting, which was deemed (by those attending) to be a great success was held in the centre of the County in Haverfordwest.

These evenings are intended for members to attend whether for the entire event or on a drop in and drop out basis.

No confirmation is required although it would help the catering if you were able to let the Secretary know. An email will also be circulated.
If you live in the Haverfordwest area and were unable to attend the July Haverfordwest Cheese and Wine event, you are welcome to come along to this event or the third such event in the Pembroke Town Hall to be held on 18 October. Please see separate notice.

Friday 20 May – Sunday 22 May ~ Silver Anniversary Celebratory Dinner at Wolfscastle Country Hotel (guest speaker Tori James) – followed by a Week-end of Events

A special date(s) for your diary in order to help us celebrate 25 years of supporting our precious Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

The outline of the programme for this week-end is to start with a celebratory dinner at Wolfscastle Country Hotel on Friday evening, 20 May 2016, with Tori James as our guest speaker, a choice of guided short or longer walks and evening event on the Saturday and finishing with a voluntary service at St. Eglwys Gadeiriol Sant ar fore Sul,,en,byddwn yn gwahodd aelodau a ffrindiau o Gymdeithasau eraill y Parc,,en,ledled y DU i ymuno â ni, ac rydym yn awyddus felly i sicrhau bod pob aelod o'r Cyfeillion yn cael y cyfle i archebu yn gyntaf,,en,Er mwyn osgoi cael eich siomi,,en,peidiwch â rhoi'r dyddiadau yn eich dyddiadur,,en,gwblhau eich Gwahoddiad Arbennig ar gyfer y Cinio Dydd Gwener,,en,sydd eisoes wedi cael ei anfon at bob aelod yn rhifyn yr Hydref o Newyddion,,en,a'i dychwelyd gyda'ch siec am y cinio cyn gynted â phosibl i Ian Pattinson,,en. Although notice of these events are well ahead of time, we will be inviting members and friends from other Park Societies, throughout the UK to join us and we are anxious therefore to ensure that all members of the Friends have the opportunity to book first. To avoid disappointment, don’t just put the dates in your diary, complete your Special Invitation for the Friday Dinner (which has already been sent out to all members in the Autumn edition of News & Views) and return it with your cheque for the dinner as soon as possible to Ian Pattinson, Tregynon Cottages, Pontfaen, Fishguard, Pembrokeshire, SA65 9TU.

We believe the dinner will be extremely popular (as it was for our 20th Anniversary) not least because we are very fortunate indeed that Tori James has agreed to join us as our guest speaker. For us, she was a natural choice since not only is 2016 the ‘Year of Adventure’ but also she was born in Pembrokeshire and grew up on a farm here where she claims to have gathered much of her toughness for venturing outside in all weathers. At the age of 25, she became the first Welsh woman to climb Mount Everest. Tori stars in the BBC documentary ‘On Top of the World’ which was produced about her expedition. She was also a member of the first team of ladies to complete the 360 mile Polar Challenge. Since then there are many other adventures she has undertaken which doubtless she will tell us about on the night.

We have arranged special room rates at the Hotel for those who live further afield and wish to make a week-end of it so there is no excuse for not joining us. (Please book rooms direct with the Hotel Tel: 01437 741225 and mention the Friends Dinner). So why not let us all get together, enjoy each other’s company and make 2016 a year not only to celebrate but also to kick-start in style the next 25 years of the Friends.
